The City’s Arts & Culture Division is opening Diamond Factory in partnership with innovative gallerist Susan Berstler, who proposed the idea. The project gives an empty storefront a creative second act while tackling a persistent challenge for Somerville’s arts community: finding affordable, appropriate space to make and share work.

At What Cost explores the energy, labor, humanity, and natural resources behind the objects of our daily lives—and how overconsumption shapes our society, relationships, and natural world. This multi-artist exhibition features work across mediums that challenges viewers to examine the forces driving our consumption habits. Presented by the Sustainability ERG at LabCentral, the show aims to spark conversation and deepen awareness of our individual roles and responsibilities within this pervasive system.
