They write "Today we’re excited to present these monumental works by Sarah Meyers Brent . With these looming towers composed of discarded toys and mass manufactured trinkets, Brent takes on the sheer scale of short-sighted overconsumption in the United States. As landfills consume more and more of our greenspaces, and the plastics they are primarily composed of leach chemicals and microplastics into our rivers and groundwater, our throwaway culture is sustained by grievous labor conditions and ecological destruction around the globe. In these sculptures, Brent invites us to interrogate overconsumption, waste, and how we shift from chaos to change—individually and systemically."
