Run by Eben Haines and Delaney Dameron, Shelter In Place Gallery is a 1:12 scale exhibition space, started amidst the nation wide lockdowns and mandatory quarantines due to the COVID19 pandemic. Since its inception, the mission of the gallery has grown as the art world continues to change drastically. They hope to continue to run a platform that makes both showing work and viewing work more accessible for all.
"Today we’re excited to present these monumental works by @sarah_meyers_brent . With these looming towers composed of discarded toys and mass manufactured trinkets, Brent takes on the sheer scale of short-sighted overconsumption in the United States. As landfills consume more and more of our greenspaces, and the plastics they are primarily composed of leach chemicals and microplastics into our rivers and groundwater, our throwaway culture is sustained by grievous labor conditions and ecological destruction around the globe. In these sculptures, Brent invites us to interrogate overconsumption, waste, and how we shift from chaos to change—individually and systemically. Courtesy of @chaseyounggallery
